A month-long search for Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s “adopted” daughter, Haryana Police today arrested Honeypreet. Honeypreet says ‘papa’ Gurmeet Ram Rahim is innocent, no impure relation with him.
Honeypreet Insan who was missing for the last 36 days since Gurmeet Ram Rahim was jailed for rape, bares it all.
Honeypreet Insan, the “adopted daughter” of self-declared guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was arrested on Tuesday after being hunted for over a month by the police. Police said Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, was arrested along with another woman when they were traveling along the Zirakpur-Patiala highway in an SUV. Police did not identify the other woman.
Honeypreet was last spotted in public as she accompanied Singh in a helicopter from Panchkula to a jail in Rohtak after a CBI court held him guilty on August 25. A case was registered against her on August 26 on charges of sedition for inciting violence in Panchkula and Sirsa. Panchkula police had later issued a lookout notice and procured an arrest warrant in her name.
Since she was rounded up from an area that falls under the jurisdiction of Punjab Police, we informed them before taking her into custody.” Chawla said, “She was on the run for over 30 days. Those who helped her or provided shelter during this period will face legal action. We are also probing the role of the woman who was traveling with her.”
Ram Rahim’s who calls herself “Papa’s Angel”, had been missing since she was seen escorting him in a special chopper to a jail in Rohtak on August 25, when the Dera Sacha Sauda chief was declared guilty of raping two followers. Rioting by Dera supporters in cities in Haryana that day led to 38 deaths.
